Celebrate Father’s Day
June 19 is the day we officially celebrate our dads. This is the112th year that the day has been dedicated to fathers. Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington, proposed the idea. Her father, a Civil War veteran and widower, single handedly reared her and her five brothers and sisters. U.S. Pres. Calvin Coolidge acknowledged the observance in 1924 and in 1972 Pres. Richard Nixon signed into law the third Sunday of June as Father’s Day and other countries worldwide followed suit.
