The 2022 Hispanic Heritage Poster is "Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation by Irene Matos Chan, a senior Information Technology manager in the Square Tech Computer Repair & Training Center for the Castle Square Tenants Organization. Judges included the National Council of Hispanic Employment Program Managers (NCHEPM), federal agencies and Hispanic affinity groups.

Hispanic Heritage Week was first proclaimed by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968. President Ronald Reagan expanded the celebration from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 to Hispanic Heritage Month in 1988.
This observance is also rooted in the Latin American countries that gained their Independence from Spain in September at the beginning of the 19th century:
- Sept. 15 Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua
- Sept. 16 México
- Sept. 18 Chile
Hispanic Heritage Month also celebrates Indigenous People's Day or Día de la Raza on Oct. 12.which marks the beginning of the mestizo race, persons of Hispanic and indigenous descent.
